Do iPods really equal death? Print E-mail

So all this talk about how iPods are killing people got me thinking, do iPods really kill people? I mean honestly, do they kill people? So I went on a little hunt to find out all I could about these killer music players and the results are really  interesting.

According to Bill O'Reilly IPods are one of the reasons that the jihadists are going to take over the world

O’Reilly: iPods Are Endangering America

GamePolitics.com caught this gem from the Radio Factor with Bill O’Reilly:

I don’t own an iPod. I would never wear an iPod… If this is your primary focus in life - the machines… it’s going to have a staggeringly negative effect, all of this, for America… did you ever talk to these computer geeks? I mean, can you carry on a conversation with them? …I really fear for the United States because, believe me, the jihadists? They’re not playing the video games. They’re killing real people over there.

Remember, if you want to defeat the jihadists, don’t buy a premium membership on billoreilly.com:

According to another article I found, Greenpease is against iPods

iPods - poisonous and killing people!

"...poison Apples full of chemicals (like toxic flame retardants, and polyvinyl chloride) are being sold worldwide. When they're tossed, they usually end up at the fingertips of children in China, India and other developing-world countries. They dismantle them for parts, and are exposed to a dangerous toxic cocktail that threatens their health and the environment". http://www.idiottoys.com/2006/09/ipods-poisonous-and-killing-people_29.html

And according to another website I found, the iPod earbuds cause young people to loose hearing faster...

“We’re seeing the kind of hearing loss in younger people typically found in aging adults. Unfortunately, the earbuds preferred by music listeners are even more likely to cause hearing loss than the muff-type earphones that were associated with the older devices,” Garstecki said.
Not only are earbuds placed directly into the ear, they can boost the sound signal by as much as six to nine decibels. “That’s the difference in intensity between the sound made by a vacuum cleaner and the sound of a motorcycle engine,” said Garstecki, professor and chair in the Roxelyn and Richard Pepper Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

I guess if you have an iPod there are a few ways to make sure that you are not "offed" or "taken out" by your iPod.

First, make sure you give it lots of new batteries or plug it in and charge it regularly and don't forget plenty of new content to keep it happy. This will prevent it from going into iPlotting mode.
Secondly make sure you take a trip to say Wal-Mart and buy yourself a safe. Start putting this dangerous device away at night and during long periods of time when you will not be able to keep your eyes on it at all times.Doing so will prevent the angry iPod from smothering you in your sleep. We all know how dangerous angry electronics can be.
And last; be sure to limit your listening experience to only a few times a week. Doing this will help us defeat the jihad.....somehow.....

Wouldn't it be amazing if people just watched what they were doing when they crossed the street, or used common sense in general when using an iPod, cell phone, or other electronic device?! I'm not saying that iPods don't cause people to go deaf, i'm sure if you have no brain cells and you turn the thing up as high as it will go then yes, your going to go deaf, nor am I saying that all iPods and electronics are evil, I own tons of these kinds of things and nothing awful has happened to me while using them. I like to think that I use common sense and am more cautious when using them. Start paying attention to the world around you while you enjoy your iPod cell phone, and other such devices and the world will be a better place smilies/wink.gif
