Why race? Print E-mail

Several people have asked me why I would race my Prius.  The short answer is to promote the spread of clean transportation.  Remember the mission of FLhybrid.com is to: "Promote the spread of clean personal transportation technologies."  Some have countered that racing the Prius just burns unnecessary fuel.  However, while I was at the track I was able to educate many people on the Hybrid Synergy technology used in the Prius.  I was also able to dispel misconceptions about hybrids being underpowered. On more than one occasion I was asked what I did to make the Prius move so fast, implying that the vehicle was not stock. When I told them the Prius was in fact stock they were even more impressed.  In the past proving new automotive technologies was often done at the track, this just continues that tradition.
