Blackberry lives!
The National Post Reports: 3/3
The company that makes the ever popular Blackberry, Research in Motion, has agreed to pay out $612.5 million to the company NTP who holds the patent.
TORONTO -- Research in Motion said late Friday it has agreed to pay $612.5 million US to patent holding company NTP to settle a long-running dispute that had threatened to shut down its popular BlackBerry device.
Research in Motion users have had their minds eased. Recently NTP had asked a judge to prevent the continued service to be provided until a ruling was made. Apparently the service will continue for those customers. RIM will not be paying all this money at once. They had put away about $450 million and the other $162.5 million will come from the companies 4th quarter earnings.
