To mobile TV or not?

Mobile TV not as popular as service providers had hoped survey finds. 

Mobile phone users apparently are not as excited about the ability to use their phones to watch TV as service providers had hoped as reported in a recent survey conducted by RBC Capital Markets.

 ...about 75 percent of roughly 1,000 people polled said they had no interest in watching TV on their cell phones..

This fact is more than frightening for some of the US mobile phone service providers who have spent a great deal updating their service and equipment to handle the new technology.

  Three of the largest cellular operators in the U.S., Cingular Wireless, Sprint Nextel and Verizon Wireless, have already launched video services. Sprint Nextel and Verizon Wireless also have introduced music download services.

Though currently consumers can't see themselves using their phone to watch tv, they may change their minds with the better services, and phones that will be offered.

 "Right now, most people are using phones that aren't even 3G (third generation) compatible. I think they'll have to see how it can really work and fit into their lives before they can really judge whether they want it." Said Linda Barrabee, a senior analyst at The Yankee Group.
