Apple computers struck with second virus in only two weeks!
whatintheworld Reports : 2/2006
Less than a week after the first worm to ever strike Mac's OS X was discovered, a new worm has reared its ugly head. The new virus is causing some to doubt whether Mac will be able to stay virus free or if Mac's will become just as riddled with virus and spy-wear as PCs.
Just a week after the first virus hit Apple's Mac, a second worm has been detected on the OS X. The worm, called OSX/Inqtana-A, uses an old Bluetooth vulnerability to spread from computer to computer.
The latest worm to strike the Mac community is a so-called "proof of concept" virus. While this virus does not affect a computer or the data stored on it. The virus is spread through a vulnerability in the Bluetooth wireless technology.
Last year a patch was released for this specific problem even before it became a problem. Unfortunately this patch has not been installed on all computers.
ust last week the very first virus to ever strike the Mac's OS X, was found. The virus, known as Leap-A was spread through Apple's iChat. Unfortunatly the Leap-A virus corrupted user files on those computers that were infected.
