Computing Section Finally Added Print E-mail
Written by Kacey Green
Tuesday, 02 January 2007

GRLT.com hasn't had a computing section in years but we've had computing related content since the site first launched back in April 19th, 2002.  With the last revamp (February 2nd, 2006) that G Custom helped us with we never did add back a dedicated computing section.  At the request of our viewers we've corrected this oversight.  We are also going back and re-categorizing obvious computing articles.

To all the stickers that encrust the average PC - the ones advertising their processors, graphics cards and potential to inflict repetitive-stress injury - you can add one more. It's a version of the familiar Windows XP logo that proclaims the computer "Vista Capable."

Apple recommended that all MacBook users apply the firmware update, even those whose notebooks had previously been repaired under warranty

Windows Vista coupon offered for the hollidays, when you buy a Windows XP based qualifying computer! Print E-mail

On Oct. 24, Microsoft announced its Vista coupon plan, which allows buyers purchasing a Windows XP-based PC this holiday season to upgrade to Vista when it becomes available.

Not surprisingly, this will allow consumers to purchase Windows XP systems this holiday season and know that they can still upgrade to Vista without a fear of obsolescence.

While this isn't necessarily the case for all systems, those customers who purchased Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition will be treated as a business customer, and offered an upgrade path to Windows Vista Business Edition.

If you'd like to be shunted onto the consumer track, make sure you've purchased a Windows XP Media Center Edition or Windows XP Home PC; that will allow customers to upgrade to the Vista Home Premium Edition. Interestingly, there is apparently no upgrade path to the Vista Ultimate Edition.
