"More than meets the eye" Print E-mail

I wanted to come here tonight and write some smarmy review of the movie Transformers, but I can't. Transformers was a great movie and this will be one of the few movies I watch more than once in the theaters. Normally I'll watch a movie once and if I liked it I'll watch it again as a home video or a rental.

Yes the movie is one huge General Motors ad, but that's OK because the movie while overstuffed with product placement will hold your attention elsewhere. Besides there is one Toyota Prius, a Dodge Charger Police Interceptor, and plenty of placements for Yahoo! and EBay.

The Windows Vista Ultimate Extras team has finally broken their four month silence over at their blog. Barry Goffe, the Director of the Windows Vista Ultimate team appologised to their loyal customers.

What are ultimate extras?
Before Windows Vista launched, Microsoft promised that the most feature packed SKU of Windows Vista would be regularly enhanced with features available only to customers with the Ultimate Edition.
All of the currently available Ultimate Extras except the Dream Scene content pack launched on January 30th with the operating system.

T-Mobile Wing Shortcut Keys Print E-mail
Written by Kacey Green

A few weeks ago while I was typing up my on-site notes at work, on my T-Mobile Wing the device threw me a tilde (~).  This confused me because this device doesn't have a tilde key and I wasn't working in the symbol keypad.  About two weeks later I was able to get the device to type another symbol that isn't shown on the keyboard, thankfully I was texting and not at work, so after a few minutes of experimenting I was able to chart all of the alternate keys that are available on the Wing.

So what is the T-Mobile Wing?  The Wing is a Windows Mobile 6 Professional smartphone that has a sliding keyboard, WIFI, bluetooth, and Microsoft Voice command built in.  Voice command lets you perform certain tasks by voice without a training session like most phones with voice control require. Price was $299 at launch.

Chart of alt keys and instructions after the jump.

Introducing Snap Shots from Snap.com Print E-mail
Written by Kacey Green

I just updated a nice little tool we've had on this site for several months, called Snap Shots that enhances links with visual previews of the destination site, interactive excerpts of Wikipedia articles, MySpace profiles, IMDb profiles and Amazon products, display inline videos, RSS, MP3s, photos, stock charts and more.

Sometimes Snap Shots bring you the information you need, without your having to leave the site, while other times it lets you "look ahead," before deciding if you want to follow a link or not.

Should you decide this is not for you, just click the Options icon in the upper right corner of the Snap Shot and opt-out.

I'm working on the current set of bugs that cause article pages to sometimes show several lines of error messages.  If you do see one of these pages, press your browser's refresh or reload button, that will cause the page to load properly.

Re: Spammers ARRG! Print E-mail

Update: to earlier posting: Spammers ARRG! I've signed up for an anti-trackback spam program.

Trackbacks may once again be posted, be warned that if I feel I'm spending too much time moderating trackbacks I won't hesitate to disable the functionality again. I know most of the posters were well behaved, but the spammers are the people triggering both the previous rant and the current warning.  I actually like reading trackbacks and seeing how different blogs link up, so I hope this feature can remain turned on.  If I have to turn off the feature this time I'll try not to delete all trackbacks, just the spam.
